Helen is a World Champion Duathlete and Triathlete who we began supporting back in 2016 while she was preparing to take on the One Day Ahead challenge with Geoff Thomas for Cure Lukemia.
After riding the entire route of the Tour De France one day ahead of the professional peloton Helen decided that she needed a new challenge for 2017. Used to multi eventing she decided 3 different disciplines wasn’t quite hard enough so she would add a fourth, Kayaking, and enter the British Quadrathlon series.
After only the off season to prepare and try to get to grips with Kayaking she proved a match for competitors with a much longer history in the sport and she took the British Championship in May and then the British Series title in September with a clean sweep of British Trophy Races – fantastically well done! Amazingly her success in the UK also left Helen 2nd in her age group in the World Cup standings!
Outside of competing 2017 also saw Helen do a number of fund raising activities for the Air Ambulance which is a fantastic cause especially for those who enjoy the great outdoors as, sadly, you never know when you may need them. Helen rode Mont Ventoux 3 times in a day (yes that’s right 3!) whilst also organising turbo challenges and watt bike classes.
2018 sees Helen change charities to the Albion Foundation, a fantastic organisation in the West Midlands and very worth of your support. Helen is organising many more Watt bike classes and further fundraising events throughout the year.
2018 will also see Helen eyeing the top step in the World Cup Quadrathlon rankings so a couple of trips abroad will be on the cards for sure!
Good luck for 2018 Helen!
