GB Aquathlon Age Group Team Captain Yiannis Christodoulou

It’s the off season so Cross Country races are keeping one of our inspirational athletes busy. He is also blogging with great training ideas so please do keep an eye on his blog for tips https://yiannischristodoulou.wordpress.com he also tells his own great story of being inspired by the London 2012 Olympics and how he got into multi events.

I thought I would take this opportunity to look back on 2017 as we have been doing with all our supported athletes over the last few weeks.

Yiannis had a great year in 2017 and we were very proud to add him into our group of supported athletes in such a great year and we look forward to helping him with his aims during 2018.

2017 saw Yiannis qualify for the GB age group team for the Aquathlon World Championships and just before leaving for the event he was handed the amazing honour of being named Captain of the GB team. He would go on to finish a fantastic 6th in the race.

His 6th place finish at the World Championship was the icing on the cake to a fantastic international year in which he also finished 9th in the European Championships in Brataslava. Nationally he finished with a silver in the English Aquathlon Championships, was first competitor back in the Active Life Pier to Pier 3km Swim, won the Race Organiser London Aquathlon and won with a course record the PowerBbar Trispirit Events Chilham Castel Challenge 5km to name but a few.

Yainnis is looking to improve in all his championship performance looking for the top step of the National Championships with podiums at the European and World Championships not out of reach either. He will also look to get back on his bike for at least one Triathlon, turning the clock back a few years.

We wish him all the best in 2018 and look forward to supporting him and watching his progress, you can too through his blog and also his twitter feed here
