The season starts!

Although a few of our supported athletes have been keeping themselves busy over the winter this last weekend has certainly seen things come alive for them.

Adam “Tango” Holland flew out, even with “the Beast from the East” rumbling overhead and dropping a years worth of snow in a day (or so it seemed!), to Cyprus for the Logicom Cyprus Marathon. In the heat of the Mediterranean Island Adam managed to complete the course in 2:46:14sec and take the victory!!! So huge congratulations to Adam and Happy Birthday for the 5th March!

Cycling Sheffield Giant Sheffield competed in the cold a bit closer to home at the Severn Bridge Road Race with Louis Szymanski finishing in 6th to back up his 5th from the Clayton Velo Road Race the week before. Dan Pullen also managed to chase back on to the group to claim a top 20 finish. For a longer write up please go to the Cycling Sheffield website here

Next weekends racing includes The Outdoor City Weekender, including the Magnificent 7 here in the great city of Sheffield

A quick shout out too to Helen Russell who managed to spend most of the weekend stuck in London thanks to “The Beast”. After flying in from working in Turin she had no time to go home thanks to the cold snap before having to head up to Manchester!

Helens coachJust think at least you weren’t in your Kayak like your coach!

Seriously?!? out on the river in the freezing cold? Not for me thanks

Though equally just take a look on the Mad Hatter events twitter feed for more people out in the sea on the weekend! here

Good luck to everyone this weekend. A big good luck to the Team Russell Athletics cross country runners who will take on the Inter Countries Cross Country Championships in Loughborough this weekend!
