There are races and events all over the Easter time table and I would just like to wish all of our supported athletes all the best over the Easter Weekend (even if it is just an Easter Egg Hunt smash it and come back with the most eggs!!).
I’d especially like to wish Helen Russell luck for next week as she puts the Kayak away for a week or so and sits firmly on 2 wheels to ride The Baggies Bike Challenge from Swansea to The Hawthorns (home of West Bromwich Albion FC) in aid of the WBA Foundation. It is Helen’s year long charity and she will be running watt bike classes in aid of them too but this is the main fund raising event and should be hard work but fun.
The Foundation uses the medium of sport to work in communities to help raise aspirations and create opportunities for those that are disadvantaged or face barriers in life. The Foundation has a number of programmes such as educational initiatives in schools to help those that are struggling to achieve, mentoring and improving attainment with children in care or foster homes, opening up opportunities in disability sport, running sports initiatives in anti-social hot-spots and supporting sports development for girls.
