Beast from the East III

More snow, really?? Its April for goodness sake can we please get some nicer weather so we can all get back outside and run, ride, swim, hike or just sit with a nice pint outside of a pub after doing one of those!

As you can see with the BBC Easter forecast picture above, it was not the sort of day to venture outside but a few people were braving the cold and the rain and there were some fantastic results:

The Redster is having a fantastic couple of weeks. He managed to recover from the cold and slight dissapointment of the Castle Coombe Easter Classic with a fantastic win at the Sandie Radford Memorial Road Race. He’s posted another great video on Twitter showing the build up and some highlights of the race here

Cycling Sheffield were out again this time at the Oakenclough and Danum Trophy Road Races. After yet more crashes at the Oakenclough caused by poor road sufaces and poor conditions Louis made it into the race winning move of 8 riders, including JLT, Madison Genesis, Canyon Eisberg. With the constant climbing and descending this was a tough day. Louis finished a solid 6th place behind winner Ian Bibby of JLT.

At the Danum Trophy Kieran finished a respectable 6th, behind winner Matt Holmes of Madison Genesis, with Louis 12th. Harry, Charlie and Dan were not far behind. Tactically the guys had ridden well showing they are moving in the right direction as a team.

A good weekend for the team and some great strides were taken in the right direction. More details can be found here

Many of our athletes are preparing for the outdoor season with a lot of indoor work while the weather is poor but some are still getting out and about. Yiannis Christodolou secured a great PB at the Folkestone 10 mile event. Helen Russell is preparing for the WBA Foudation bike ride from Swansea to the Hawthorns this week so a huge good luck to here for that, more information can be found on last weeks blog here. Team Russell have wisely decided to decamp for a week to Spain to get some warm weather training in for the summer.

Keep an eye out too this week for a quick introduction to the Madhatter Series and their first even in little over a month!
