Sorry about not getting the last weekend of April’s results out before now, it was a very busy week last week so I am going to try and run through things as much as I can with some links to the bigger/wider stories as we go through.
Cycling Sheffield: a slightly off colour and under the weather team went out on the weekend of 28th/29th April to the Klondike GP. After a puncture Louis finished a respectable 19th so not all too bad. For the full report see here
This weekend saw them head to the ThamesVelo road race and the Stamfordham GP I’ll tweet out the results once I have been sent them through
Sheffield Giants: Our newest addition to the Sweet Peaks family is the Sheffield Giants American Football Team (more in a separate block in the next few weeks). In their opening Premier League North fixture they came away with a win over East Kilbride Pirates but unfortunately fell to the Manchester Titans this weekend. We look forward to keeping everyone updated with their progress in the coming weeks.
Team Russell Athletics: after a return from Spain Team Russell has been in training again for the past couple of weeks but that training has included Park Runs and some team Records and personal bests tumbling!! Well dont to all those involved. There have been a few races dotted around and I’ll update you with “start of the track season revied” separately in the next few weeks.
Adam “Tango” Holland: what a weekend this was, and I will have to link quite a bit here as its been busy. Saturday was the Plym Trail Marathon which Adam won in a course record 2:39:29sec . Sunday he backed up with 1st Male in the UK in he Wings for life race running 51.93km in 3:41:50. Monday saw him run his 3rd marathon in 3 days and finish 23rd in 3:03:58 more info on all of the races can be found on his facebook page here. Huge well done and now have a sit down and relax!
Yiannis Christodolou: Yiannis is building up his training with the world championships on the horizon, but he has also been have some great races in preparation. This weekend Yiannis took on the Fleet Half Marathon and knocked 4 minutes off his PB to finish in 1:19:29 in a brilliant 22nd place. He has also written a fantastic blog detailing his competitions over the past month which can be read here.
The Redster: Red raced on the weekend of Apr 28th/29th picking up a fantastic 8th place in the Nat B Chitterne Road Race. He is really racking the points up this year and it is great to be involved. He is also posting some great videos on You Tube so please do keep an eye on his channel here.
Helen Russell: Helen has just finished her Charity Watt Bike classes for the WBA foundation and is in training for the start of her assault on the Quadrathlon world (after conquering Britain last year). In her first every Kayak only race last weekend she finished 2nd (1st Lady) and got promoted a division! Not a bad start!!
The Mohican Runner: Rich managed to get the first of his 18 races this year underway after an elongated off season. A very warm day at the North Lincs half was probably not exactly the way he wanted to start but a great time of 1:24:23 is a brilliant way to start the challenge. For more information on the challenge or donate please go here.
The Mad Hatter Series: The Mad Hatter series got underway this weekend too with the Swim SUP run event, a new take on the triathlon which seemed to go down very well on a lovely sunny day in Cornwall. Well done to all those involved and those taking part!! keep up to date on what is coming up in Cornwall here.
