What an amazing weekend of results we have had this weekend. A huge well done to all our supported athletes and teams!
Sheffield Giants: A great result this weekend in their 4th match of the season with a 39-0 win over the East Kilbride Pirates! Congratulations to Head Coach Tony Chesters and the rest of the team!
Team Russell: Its been the Yorkshire Schools Championships over the weekend and it was a record breaker for the team. Emily Simpson has a fantastic weekend winning gold in the 800m and 1500m U20 girls events. Cyane Robinson also had a great weekend bringing home a Silver medal in the 800m and Bronze medal in the 1500m. Both Cyane and Emily also both have individual support from us too and this is great news (and the recovery drink helping between races, words from Cyane not me!).
There were also Gold Medals for Ella Kynoch in the U15 girls discuss and also Annie Naylor in the U17 girls 1500m. Josh Kynoch also took 2 bronze medals in the boys Shot and Discuss. Teoni Ojibah won a bronze in the girls 300m and Zak Ferguson also won bronze in the U13 boys 800m with a new personal best.
There were a lot of other fantastic results for all the boys and girls in the team with some great personal bests and goals met so well done to everyone within the team!
Cycling Sheffield: This weekend was the Lincoln GP and the virus that has gone through the team struck Charlie this week so he was unable to take part. Louis, Joe and Harry all managed to make good breaks but, as is often the way with cycling, they couldn’t make them stick with the peleton chasing them down each time, a sign of respect?
By the end all 3 had ridden hard and well but it wasn’t to be with Louis finishing a respectable 32nd and the others not too far behind.
Adam Holland: after 3 races last weekend you would have thought a weekend off may be in order, but not for Adam! This weekend saw him take on the Gatwick Half Marathon. Without a specific aim he decided to follow around the one man aiming to do the course under 70 minutes (2 minutes under Adams PB) and see how long he could keep up. It turns out he could keep up for pretty much the whole course with a gap only opening up right at the end. Adam came 2nd with a PB of 69:09 which is really rather impressive!!
Geared Up Cycles: Congratulations to Curtis Maltby on a great 3rd place and podium at the University of Sheffield Road Race at Hadge Edge.
