Sheffield Triathlon Club (STC) is one of the oldest and most established clubs in the country formed in 1986 by some of the country’s earliest triathlon pioneers.
There are over 150 members who enjoy access to races, training events, and social events throughout the year. STC have a well-deserved reputation as being one of the friendliest clubs around, and their membership spans all age groups and abilities with the youngest being just 5 years old and the oldest being 70!! They have a similarly wide range of experience and ability, from those attracted to the sport to keep fit to those who go on to achieve elite status within the sport. Every year, a small but significant number of their members qualify to represent GB in European and World Age-Group Championships.
STC also organise one of the main local Triathlon “mass events”.. The Hathersage Hilly.. which is a great triathlon based in the village of Hathersage in the Peak District not far from Sheffield. It consists of a 420 metre swim in an open air (heated) swimming pool, followed by a 20km bike ride around the hilly countryside around Hathersage (with the compensation of some spectacular and beautiful views) and to finish you have a 7km run mostly off road and through some of the woods in the area. Hathersage then has some brilliant pubs to help alleviate any aches and pains from your race.
